The Edge marketing suite was our first project for Taylor Wimpey South Thames, so naturally, we wanted to impress and deliver an outstanding end result. This marketing suite was not Taylor Wimpey’s usual style, the brief was for an edgy, eclectic look to attract the young, urban audience of the development.
We proposed a converted railway arch as the location of the marketing suite and this was not without its challenges. The prefabricated structure arrived on site flat packed and during construction, we had to ensure the suite sat within the arch, without coming into contact with any of the arches structural elements.
We filled the marketing suite with all the tools Taylor Wimpey need to sell apartments, as well as reflecting the yellow and black branding of The Edge.
One of the most striking features of the marketing suite is the large, front-facing arched sign, in bright yellow, along with the statement ‘spider’ chandelier suspended over sales desk. Both features aim to attract youthful and creative Londoners, who are the target audience for The Edge.
Our biggest challenge during the design phase was the site boundary that cut across the front of the building. We wanted the suite to be easy to locate, so used low-level fencing to direct customers to the sales space, as well as internally illuminated the archway at night, making both a distinctive architectural feature and an ideal solution for making the suite stand out.
